Tasting notes

Taster Rob Allanson

Nose: Full of ripe, rich fruits, plums, blackcurrants and ripe banana, lingering ginger spice, gentle peppery notes and a hint of aniseed. Cinder toffee covered in dark chocolate.
Palate: That deep richness continues. Golden treacle and white chocolate meringues tantalise, then salted caramel and gently smoked tea.
Finish: Long and well balanced with tannin richness slowly drying.
Comment: A whisky with more twists and turns than a basket of eels, but seriously impressive stuff.

Taster Mark Newton

Nose: Lovely dark fruits instantly – blackberries, elderberries, plum jam. Figs. Red onion chutney, with muscovado sugar and burnt toffee notes. A spicy Côtes du Rhône.
Palate: Plenty going on: that dark fruit, balsamic intensity with brine. Cranberry juice. With time – raisins, redcurrants, a real acidic tartness within.
Finish: Coastal with black tea, damson jam, and echoing the spicy red wine on the nose.
Comment: Insane fun! Full of attitude. I’m exhausted just drinking it.
