Tasting notes

Taster Christopher Coates

Nose: Potpourri, dried ginger and strawberry wine. Tree bark, blackberry jam and violin rosin. Rather festive: candied orange, clove and cinnamon sticks. Wholemeal flour, instant coffee and creamer.
Palate: Light bodied. The festive orange and spices are back, with baked red apples and pears, sugared pecans and pastry twists.
Finish: Medium. Nutty, with more of those festive spices.
Comment: The nose is complex, but the palate is less so. Nevertheless, this is a pleasing and well-made dram.

Taster Phoebe Calver

Nose: An intriguing mixture of sweet and spice, with vanilla custard, clove and cigar box kick.
Palate: Sweetens up with chocolate chip cookies, baking spices and peppery warmth. There’s some sherried raisin in there and oaky heat, too.
Finish: The finish brings back that cigar box hint, with a touch of dried fruit sweetness.
Comment: An interesting interplay between the earthy and the sweet. Certainly one to revisit.
