Tasting notes
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Really mellow and soft at first. Apple crumble and oat cream. There’s a spice note coming through too with gingerbread straight out of the oven, crystallised ginger, walnut and date biscuits. Fig Newtons.
Palate: That mellow edge keeps going into the palate, as does the sweetness. Apples and orange segments with brown sugar. Gentle spices lurk, a little tingly powdered cinnamon and chilli honey. Vanilla cream and pastry.
Finish: Swift after a lovely spice explosion.
Comment: Spice meets sweetness and creates something all nice.
Taster   Becky Paskin
Nose: Dusty malt bin and juicy, ripe peaches and pears. It’s a little bit bready as well.
Palate: Gentle, sweet and oily, with lots of tropical fruit juice – pineapple, mango and papaya. There’s a touch of cut grass and pepper in the background with some lovely oak spice.
Finish: Soft, fruity and quite long with a touch of pepper and hay.
Comment: This is a lovely whisky, but if I hadn’t been told this was a rye, I’d have had no idea.
