Tasting notes
Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Toasty but tightly grained oak. Bourbony-like in character with hints of sour fruit, oat flakes, treacle, dark honey, cinnamon and coriander powder.
Palate: Lighter and fresher than the nose, with herbal dark honey and rye-like spices. Hints of dark chocolate, dusty spice and toast oak fills out the middle.
Finish: Long and crisp although a little astringent, with a grainy bite and lingering light treacle and wood smoke.
Comment: Definitely interesting. I can see Bourbon fans enjoying this.
8.5
Taster   Joel Harrison
Nose: A pretty direct nose, hot toffee or melting sugar in a pan. Not much spirit coming through.
Palate: Screams ‘new oak’ and there is that classic new world whisky note of cardboard and rancio.
Finish: More cardboard and mushroom notes, this is like a walk through a forest post-rainfall.
Comment: Good spirits, but would benefit from better oak to mature in.
