Tasting notes
Taster   Becky Paskin
Nose: Candied strawberries and cream, then lemon and lime fruit pastilles, buttery chardonnay and freshly-mown hay. An overload of evolving mouth-watering fresh fruits: gooseberries, lemons, almost-ripe strawberries – the fresh nose betrays this whisky’s deep mahogany colour.
Palate: Fruit leather and indulgent raspberry jam with a tingling of wood spice – clove, anise, vanilla, cinnamon. Hints of citrus freshness lift the dense, ripe red fruits.
Finish: Fruity, and slightly dry.
Comment: Vibrant, citrusy and fruity while also dense, dry and spicy.

Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Given the dark colour of this I was expecting heavy sherry notes, but it is surprisingly light and full of orchard fruits, vanilla laced cream and slices of barbecued mango. There’s a gentle fresh, damp soil note here as well, and leaf mulch.
Palate: That fruit-filled basket keeps on coming through, but now the fruits are a little more stewed, fig jam, Christmas pudding with rum butter and lemon peel.
Finish: Takes its time, and slowly dries leaving sherry-soaked raisins and pears.
Comment: A good example where colour is not an indication of what to expect. A decent drop indeed.
