Tasting notes
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: A mixed bag that hits you all at once. Chocolate oranges, a little coconut laced sea salt, liquorice root. Fruity with tinned mandarin pieces, honey on toasted white sourdough. Gentle and delicate smoke to it.
Palate: Sweetness initially, then that peat starts to hit home. Orange pith sweetness and heather honey.
Finish: Short and drying with plenty of smoke hanging around.
Comment: Felt like there was a disconnect with the nose and palate, but it all came together really well in the end. Decent stuff.
8.6
Taster   Sam Coyne
Nose: There’s peat, old wellington boots, wet earth and then a bonfire. Eventually leads into some vanilla, coconut, sugar syrup and a faint waft of mint.
Palate: Opens through oak, a bitter coffee, citrus zests and malt. Then sweetness arrives and freshens things up – apple and blackcurrant pies but with a faintly charred, smoky pastry, topped with burned caramel.
Finish: Remains fruity. A little short, but some of the smoke loiters.
Comment: The smoke wraps things up nicely and ensures nothing is too overpowering.
