Tasting notes
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Bran flakes, digestive biscuits, some spice hints from ground ginger. Then moves more fruity with pineapple, melon and stewed apples, green banana. A clean smoke to it as well.
Palate: Clingy, earthy forest floor notes then malted barley. Those tropical fruit notes come through wrapped in creamy, custard-like oak vanilla.
Finish: Warming and coating, a gentle alcohol prickle then off it goes.
Comment: Well put together and great balance between the fruit and smoke.
8.3
Taster   Mark Newton
Nose: Amazingly elemental: coastal, with notes of brine and citrus, with a lovely honey core. A malty, slightly smokey black tea note, with apricots and traces of coal dust.
Palate: Viscous, honeyed, smokey (rather than sweet peat) and lemon juice. The honey becomes mead. The saltiness is acute: drifts into tobacco and dried herbs. Warming cloves. Cloying and oaky, too.
Finish: It unravels towards unbalanced astringent, peppery and peat notes.
Comment: Very pleasingly old-school and mouth-watering.
