Tasting notes
Taster   Joel Harrison
Nose: A fantastic nose of rich tropical fruits (guava, mango, pineapple and banana) there is also a slight fino element to the nose which gives it a grape-like element too.
Palate: Wonderful notes from the oak give hints of spice, clove and vanilla with the tropical fruit notes, particularly the mango, coming through later on.
Finish: There is a bitterness from the oak, suggesting it could have been bottled just a touch younger.
Comment: Almost brilliant, save for the astringent oak notes in the finish.
9.2
Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: A little closed but showing some gristy barley, apple, lime, fragrant vanilla oak and subtly herbaceous. Water brings out a touch of luscious orange.
Palate: Deeper than the nose suggests with more malt, but less citrus. Hints of oak and barley appear but it needs water. Diluted, the citrus notes make an appearance.
Finish: Neat, it is masked by the alcohol. Water lengthens and brings out some barley and subtle spice.
Comment: Neat, it’s tight. With water it’s straightforward, but pleasant.
