Tasting notes
Taster   Annabel Meikle
Nose: This reminded me of the seaside ice cream van. Pink caramel wafer, white chocolate ice cream, toffee sauce and nougat. More fresh fruit emerges with water.
Palate: Fizzing orange zest and a tingling warmth of brindle toffee. Less sweetness than expected and oaky chips. Marmalade on toast. Fresh fig and sultanas.
Finish: Zesty and lively, becomes more viscous when diluted, with a gentle astringency.
Comment: A contemplative – very three dimensional dram.
8.3
Taster   Neil Ridley
Nose: Cinnamon dusted salt beef, a dry, dusty earthiness and rich cocoa. Dark, with a masculine, almost musky note too.
Palate: A bold ash-driven smoke, a touch of menthol lozenges and liquorice root all take the wheel at the same time. It’s pulling in different directions, very fast at the same time.
Finish: Lingering dry notes grab the wheel, with a dark smoked caramel touch too.
Comment: The lone ranger; the enforcer; the man on a solo mission. Edward Woodward, with a big (oak) chip on his shoulder. One for the dark nights.
