Tasting notes
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Light, scented. A herbalist's shop. Waxed furniture, dried herbs. Refreshing. Mint. Lemon. Peat.
Palate: Surprisingly sweet and velvety. Rich, sweet barley notes. Close to medicinal (the herbalist again). Citrus fruit salad. A hint of peat.
Finish: Warm, leaving a fizzy sensation in the mouth then fading quickly.
Comment: Macallan in disguise. Impossible to recognise blind. So unusual but really attractive.
8.3
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Light and slightly neutral when naked. In time there's smoke, lemon, fresh fruit. Becomes increasingly phenolic.
Palate: An oily texture. Powerfully phenolic, very dry with a chewy centre.
Finish: Smoke ... and lots of it.
Comment: This is Macallan?? Either a peated experiment at the distillery or it's been filled into an ex-Caol Ila cask.
