Tasting notes
Taster   Jim Murray
Nose: Classic and quite unmistakable Caol Ila with its ultra-clean, delightfully oily gristy peatiness.
Palate: Malt-sweet at first and them an intense build-up of clean, uncomplex peat. Chewy and fat.
Finish: Long, sweet and gristy with just a gentle oak follow through.
Comment: Caol Ila is not renowned for its complexity but this is as good as it gets at what its best at: offering big peat in a sweet, oily manner. Excellent.
8.5
Taster   Michael Jackson
Nose: Light peat and iodine.
Palate: Junipery. Interplay of stemmy dryness and sweetness.
Finish: Tobacco-like.
Comment: On the light side, but with some delicacy and complexity.
7.5
