Tasting notes
Taster   Mark Newton
Nose: Sweet peat and bright jammy fruits. Strawberry jam, blackberries. The peat returns – ashier, with tobacco. Brilliant mustiness, cardboard or old cellars. Sandalwood.
Palate: Same intense strawberry or blackberry jam and peat trade-off. Dark fruits explode. Cigars with port or sherry. Thick and dry. A bruiser!
Finish: Tart, tannic, ashy, tobacco, yet with enticing winey sweetness. Lingering ash for an endless finale.
Comment: Outrageous, intensely flavoured, yet somehow well balanced.

Taster   Laura Foster
Nose: A true smell of Islay – the fruity, estery aromas from the still room, embers of a wood fire, seaweed and sea breeze, some TCP and a piece of clootie dumpling thrown in!
Palate: The initial impression is of dark, chewy charcoal, but the heart of this is actually very herbal and green – anise, sticky hops and eucalyptus specifically.
Finish: Those herbal green characters keep playing on amongst some sea grass and some dried chilli flakes.
Comment: Greener than I’d expected, but a solid dram from the Queen of the Hebrides.
