Tasting notes
Taster   Laura Foster
Nose: Spices (turmeric, paprika, cardamom) in a terracotta pot by the medicine cabinet. Seaweed carried in on a sea breeze.
Palate: Waxy and chewy, the lemon and lime juicy core is underlaid by coal smoke. Cocoa-dusted chocolate almonds, sultanas and freeze-dried raspberries come towards the end.
Finish: The fire doused, the sweet and nutty elements play on.
Comment: Mouth-watering and juicy, there’s an elegant balance to this smoky number that means it’s easy-drinking and appealing.
7.6
Taster   Mark Newton
Nose: Elegant smoke, very sweet and medicinal. Heaps of golden syrup. Charred. Vanilla shows later beneath burnt bacon and tomato ketchup. A fruity, berry-rich coffee.
Palate: Echoes the nose with burnt meat, but the peat is a little ashier and merges with vibrant oak. Drifts into Merlot territory, with black cherries and plums. Dark chocolate.
Finish: Dry, chewy, medium length and dirty. Blackcurrants and mulled wine.
Comment: Characterful, well blended and sure to delight peat-heads.
