Tasting notes
Taster   Christopher Coates
Nose: Very unusual. Tropical fruit juice. Jasmine tea. Blueberry with Greek yoghurt, aloe and leather, latex and unlit cigarette. Sage and cut flowers.
Palate: Light bodied. Blueberry bubblegum, lemon oils and cannabis bud. Then strawberry laces and caramel. Delicate nutmeg. Some vanilla and creaminess beneath it all.
Finish: Long. The weird herbal-tropical character lingers for ages.
Comment: I’ve never met a whisky like this before. It’s weird, but I love it. A little more heft might push it even higher. Controversial.
8.4
Taster   Phoebe Calver
Nose: Fresh vanilla pods, thick creamy rice pudding, honey, gorse flowers, sandalwood and amber candle wax, coconut shavings and poached pear.
Palate: Fresh and floral, wildflower notes massively present, After Eight mints, cinnamon donut dough, a hint of polished oak sideboard and ginger spice.
Finish: Fresh rain on grass and light vanilla pod on a medium-short finish.
Comment: It runs quite hot for 40%, but not unpleasantly so; it’s light, but full of flavour and is quite simply very drinkable.
