Tasting notes

Taster Rob Allanson

Nose: Big, bold and really rich. Shelves of old leather books, pickled apricots, dusty oak floors. Deep dark spices of ginger and plums, Parkin cake. Also some Mandarin juice citrus ripples.
Palate: Sweetness up front, then the spices start to build. Tiramisu, chocolate, coffee grinds and rice clotted cream. Then Maraschino cherries in sherry.
Finish: Rich and decadent with chocolate covered toffee pennies. Seriously lengthy.
Comment: This is a late night contemplative dram, lots of lovely layers and great style.

Taster Mark Newton

Nose: Gorgeously balanced – sandalwood, Turkish Delight, and orange peel. Warming cinnamon and ginger, followed by floral notes of jasmine and geraniums. Milk chocolate and caramel.
Palate: Intensely floral, and slightly soapy; there’s a lot of sweetness that makes it work – vanilla and golden syrup. Toffee notes. Silky stuff. Chocolate orange. Wood notes and cinnamon.
Finish: Long, warming. Ginger, with a delightful chewy oiliness.
Comment: So pleasing to smell that one could wear the stuff on a date.
