Tasting notes
Taster   Michael Jackson
Nose: As though a sea breeze were gusting across the glass, and promising to blow a gale.
Palate: Firm, oily but drying. Bay leaves. Parsley. Emphatic seaweed.
Finish: Powerful, peppery, warming.
Comment: This one blew up a storm for me.
8.8
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Initially old style Californian chardonnay, all butter, nut and wood, then the smoke starts and with water becomes pretty firm and severe.
Palate: Robust, firm, quite alcoholic, powerful. A nodule of sweetness in the middle.
Finish: Dry and austere.
Comment: Port Ellen has always struck me as the most Calvinist of Islay's malts.
