Tasting notes
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Peaty. A mix of creosote and sulphur. The malty character struggles to shine through behind that wall. A touch of vanilla.
Palate: Smooth, thick almost syrupy. Very sweet. Far less phenolic than on the nose. Smoked chicken, star anis.
Finish: Dry,slightly sour.White pepper.
Comment: A phenolic fellow. Tough on the nose, sweet on the palate. But the aromatic profile is not exciting.
7.3
Taster   Dominic Roskrow
Nose: Empty fish boxes, musty boat sheds after a wet winter
Palate: Messy battle between oak, peat,a strange off note and oily fish. No obvious winner.
Finish: Long and peaty,distinctly Islay
Comment: Does little to enhance the distillery's reputation.
