Tasting notes
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Rich with honey/wax, dried fruit and a savoury/sulphury note. There's damp chamois leather and oilskins. Some oak as well.
Palate: Big, (make that BIG) thick and oily. Coats the mouth with robust savoury/sweet flavours, chestnut honey, wax and layered fruit/fruitcake.
Finish: Tingling, long with treacle toffee and oak.
Comment: Like all Pulteneys this is all about texture and weight. A lovely big hairy bear of a dram.
8.8
Taster   Michael Jackson
Nose: Hint of peat. Nutty. Earthy.
Palate: Oily. Distinctly nutty. Toasted nuts. Peanut brittle.
Finish: Now salted nuts. Intense salt on the tip of the tongue. That distinctly maritime Manzanilla character.
Comment: I hope the new owners value this distillery. Its location, stillhouse design and - most important - its whisky, bring something special to the far north.
