Tasting notes

Taster Rob Allanson

Nose: Quite shy at first, then wafts of menthol. Coffee grinds and steamed milk. Cherry pie with vanilla custard essence. Water opens up the oak, pencil boxes and humidors.
Palate: Big hits of fruit roll through, apples in a Calvados way, upside down pineapple cake. Melted caramel and dark chocolate with some chilli flakes and sea salt crystals.
Finish: Long and warm, with a decent grip coming from the oak.
Comment: Lovely stuff, the ABV does not make itself known, but a drop of water really opens out the wood notes.

Taster Sam Coyne

Nose: Doesn't open up immediately. Leaves just the faintest impression of marzipan and vanilla.
Palate: Roasted pineapple, but again is quite reserved given its strength. Late on comes through with ripe plums and a rum note.
Finish: Restrained, although a little more oak just hang about. Balances out that sweetness from the rum. A long caramel then cleans up at the end.
Comment: Quite surprising given the ABV. All the flavours are well managed. Could it just be dialled up a little?
