Tasting notes
Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Heavy and oily with barley, oak and honey you could cut with a knife! Lightly perfumed with guava, lime, apricot, vanilla and heather-like notes. Water emphasises the lime making it fresher.
Palate: Full and honeyed with apricot, malt biscuits and barley. Deep and concentrated with refreshing lime. Water makes it juicy and unctuous.
Finish: Long, honeyed and herbal with a superb sweet/dry balance. Water brings out a touch of dry spice.
Comment: The depth and complexity of this malt are breathtaking.

Taster   Joel Harrison
Nose: Liquorice and spices, this gives cloves, cinnamon dusted doughnuts fresh from the fryer, and some more meaty notes of Marmite and Bovril. Big and bold.
Palate: Chopped mint, hints of red grapes, plum chutney and bold spices including cumin and fennel. It sounds rather odd but seems well-balanced. Not too loud, not too quiet.
Finish: Very oaky and dry, this gives some sweetness and some salty notes, too.
Comment: Needs a little more interest in the maturation side. Good quality spirit however.
