Tasting notes
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Smoke. Eucalypt/bog myrtle, then vetiver. Light oiliness then spent BBQ charcoal and salt air. With water:saltencrusted fresh fish, sea breezes.Perfume and peat smoke.
Palate: As the nose with added oyster liquor. Sweet and oily. The sweetness is revealed then a huge salty wavebreaks over the tonsils.
Finish: Very very long the flavours lasting right down the throat.
Comment: A classic Port Ellen. A must-buy for peat heads.
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: A mariner. Iodinic and smoky. Smoked venison, tarred rope. Peat reek soars above a sweet malty note. Hint of candyfloss. Demerara sugar syrup.
Palate: Tangy. Then the sweet Demerara note perceived on the nose soothes the alcohol bite. Smoked meat. Minty freshness.
Finish: Smoky, sooty and sweet.
Comment: A tough lad with a lot of muscles and energy but not deprived of finesse. Tastes young. Invigorating like a walk by a shore on a 'dricht'
