Tasting notes
Taster   Michael Jackson
Nose: Very aromatic. Bison-grass. A hint of smokiness.
Palate: Earthy. Peppery. Sandy. Austere.
Finish: Fruity. Seaweed, pronounced salt. Very appetising.
Comment: From a sadly silent still: a great malt that is too good to chill, but wonderful with smoked salmon or scallops. Or, deservedly, caviar. You serve vodka? Shame on you!
8.5
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Intense and haughty. There's oils at work along with fresh bay leaf and an austere, flinty smokiness. Maritime.
Palate: Dry and austere initially but manages to coat the mouth leaving lingering smoke in every corner.
Finish: Long dry with some oiliness.
Comment: Takes time to get to know. One to sip.
