Tasting notes

Taster Rob Allanson

Nose: Pencil shavings and cedar humidor boxes, really lovely oak notes. Baked oranges and cloves, lemon curd, almond croissants with salted butter. Fresh pencil markings on a painted door frame.
Palate: Sweet vanilla and then those almond croissants. Buttered and salted new potatoes, then huge spices, a pepper and chilli prickle.
Finish: Warm and mouth puckering with tannins and spices.
Comment: Stunning quality and great balance between wood and spirit.

Taster Mark Newton

Nose: Classic pot still aromas, with dried fruits – raisins, sultanas. Then wholemeal toast, walnuts, fennel, fruit cake, dried tea and ending up a little earthy.
Palate: It’s exceptionally silky, with more heft than the nose. Toffee-led sweetness is balanced beautifully with ginger and all spice. Coffee grounds, toasted notes, with salted caramel and dark chocolate.
Finish: Spicy towards the end, with chili pepper heat and ginger. A little short.
Comment: Very much a classic example of this style. Delicious to boot.
