Tasting notes
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Big and perfumed, with notes of coffee cake, chestnut, treacle, burnt orange, mulled wine spice.
Palate: A little woody and firm, but has just sufficient sweet spirit to carry. Oak, spiced orange, dried fruit, nutmeg. Spicy and quite full with a light touch of burnt sugar. Cognac-like.
Finish: Fresh ginger. Oak.
Comment: Old, mature, showing its age a bit, but still a remarkable dram.
8.5
Taster   Michael Jackson
Nose: Very woody. Discourages further exploration.
Palate: Surprisingly fresh and fruity. What happened to the woodiness? Suddenly, it smacked me in the mouth.
Finish: Some fruity, mint-toffee flavours struggle through.
Comment: Just too woody for me.
