Tasting notes
Taster   Christopher Coates
Nose: Werther’s Originals, hot milk, vanilla syrup and porridge with honey. Brown bread and butterscotch. We’re almost in sticky toffee pudding territory. Fresh red apple brings nice clear balance.
Palate: Medium-light bodied. Heaps more toffee, with strawberry laces, custard, and raspberry ripple ice cream in a wafer cone.
Finish: Short, with more ice cream.
Comment: A real crowd pleaser, this one. But not quite complex enough to nudge it into the 8s.
7.9
Taster   Phoebe Calver
Nose: Rubber floor tiles, almond butter, pear frangipane tart with a dollop of crème fraiche. A little vegetal with sugar snap peas.
Palate: Pencil eraser, chopped dates, aftertaste of black coffee. Then hazelnut cream, poached pear, hot rye spice and ginger in syrup.
Finish: Tang of dates, slightly metallic and heat burning it all up.
Comment: The heat in this slightly detracted from the enjoyment, but nothing a drop of water can’t fix.
