Tasting notes
Taster   Christopher Coates
Nose: Tart cider and butterscotch, chocolate bitters and cigar box. Some leathery bass notes are backed by pink grapefruit zest and blood orange. A little fresh ginger and coconut macaroons.
Palate: Intense cloudy pear and apple juice, with tea cake and candied orange. Honeycomb with milk chocolate and toffee sauce. Delicate woodiness.
Finish: Medium-short, with delicate cocoa-dusted almond. A little black tea tannin.
Comment: Mature and well balanced, with solid flavours in there.
8.2
Taster   Phoebe Calver
Nose: Lightly smoked salmon wrapped around cream cheese filling, creamy rice pudding, orange blossom and white chocolate.
Palate: Icing sugar dusting and a slightly medicinal note. Allspice heat, with a little rye, slight artificial sweetness, all butter fudge and sage.
Finish: That herbal sage note continues, and an almost aniseed edge creeps in. Warm and dry.
Comment: I’m a little thrown off by what’s going on, but it’s interesting and, despite the ABV, not overpowering.
