Tasting notes
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Very gentle at first. Sweet smoked ham, light lapsang tea, there is an earthyness as well.
Palate: Still restrained but eventually the spices come through, delicate smoke.
Finish: Long and balanced.
Comment: A wonderful example of balanced peat and sweetness.
8.5
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Big chocolate orange aromas to start. Oak-driven sweetness. Caramelised fruits, vanilla custard and a lightly methol quality. Complex.
Palate: Good presence. Barley sugar sweetness. Shows true complexity mid-palate where the base spirit shifts from under the sweet oak. Fleshy fruits, nutmeg, mintiness. Dazzling spice.
Finish: Ginger, toasted oak and some black fruits.
Comment: Balanced and though oak-driven, not oak-dominated.
