Tasting notes

Taster Chris Goodrum

Nose: Burnt wood, medicinal peat. Chunky Oloroso with succulent orange, tangerine, bitter chocolaty wood spices. Intense bitter coffee and manure follows.
Palate: Quite soft (relatively speaking!) and very herbal with drying chocolaty tannins by the bucketful. Astringent, medicinal peat follows and drying alcohol.
Finish: Intense, mouth-watering, herbal sherry and mentholated, medicinal peat. I can still taste it five minutes later!
Comment: Big sherry and even bigger peat. It’s a monster. Those of a nervous disposition should turn away now, but I love it.

Taster Joel Harrison

Nose: A nose that is tamed by good oak maturation, fresh vanilla and hints of barbecue sauce. A lot of young spirit in it but water tames this to give some nice walnut notes.
Palate: Perfectly nice with more nutty notes (walnut, almond and hazelnuts mostly) and plenty of oak spice once again.
Finish: Spicy and nutty.
Comment: Ended up tasting like a mouthful of hazelnuts. Cracking…
