Tasting notes

Taster Rob Allanson

Nose: Wow, a huge and mixed nose, full of grilled pineapple, chilli flakes, crushed sea salt and seaweed. A fresh turned earthy note and then a whack of peat for good measure. Raspberry compote with vanilla ice cream.
Palate: Initially plenty of fruit up front, lush mango, a hint of passionfuit and a tart raspberry edge. Then the sea washes in with sea salt, hot smoked salmon and wood fires.
Finish: Just keeps giving a mix of smoke and fruit, damsons and salt.
Comment: A serious headturner of a whisky and worth seeking out.

Taster Lyndsey Gray

Nose: Could easily mistake this for an Islay or mezcal. Iodine wrapped up with instant aromas of lemon zest, chilli infused rock salt, Frazzles and a bonfire made of gorseflower.
Palate: No hiding away from that dominating medicinal peatiness. Luckily the citrus fruits are still apparent in the background alongside peppermint tea leaves, marmite and burnt sage.
Finish: A sweet smoke just lingers on and on and on and on and on.
Comment: That mis-chord in a Joni Mitchell track; perfectly placed but off balance for some.
