Tasting notes
Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Dry, but phenolic peat, tar and creosote with hints of burnt heather and ginger. Beneath lies sweet barley and tight European(?) oak notes along with toffee, grainy dried fruit, manure and smoke.
Palate: Dry, dusty peat with a hint of Bowmore-esque violets. Intense and smoky, with tar and creosote. Barley gives sweetness and the oak adds gritty tannins.
Finish: Long, lingering peat smoke, salt and gentle oak vanillins.
Comment: Intense and primal. Those Swedes have come up with a cracker again!

Taster   Joel Harrison
Nose: A smoky snout in this one, it has dying cigar smoke, green apples and some light herbal tones (think thyme in a Sunday roast and some fresh basil).
Palate: The smoke isn’t as soft as the nose gives away, but once water is added there is a great deal of flavour that could compete with some of the younger smoked malts from Scotland or Japan.
Finish: Minty goodness and some vanilla. Lots more smoke.
Comment: A good whisky but it really comes to life with lots of water. No bad thing.
