Tasting notes

Taster Christopher Coates

Nose: Raisin, baked banana, dried figs and prunes. Coal dust and burnt toast with butter. Eucalyptus, petrichor and liquorice root. A whiff of Vasaline and pear drop.
Palate: Light bodied. Smoked pear purée, elderflower and gooseberry preserve, aloe vera drink, and candied green apple.
Finish: Long, on smoked vanilla ice cream and icing sugar sweetness.
Comment: A fresh, clean and crisp smoked dram that would make for a nice sorbet.

Taster Bethany Whymark

Nose: Earl Grey tea and lemon. Dried apple chunks and a hint of maple syrup. Oat biscuits. Iodine, and fallen leaves after rain.
Palate: Light-medium bodied. Apple and honey granola with almond milk. Oatcakes with a thick layer of butter. Continuing, but much muted, notes of peat.
Finish: Medium, on lemon peel, spent black tea leaves and a little more iodine.
Comment: A simple and approachable peaty dram.
