Tasting notes
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Gentle peat at first, a little carbolic soap and big alcohol notes, mushrooms and bacon fried in butter, but there are sweet undertones too. Cedar cigarboxes and soft oak tones.
Palate: Custard pastry sweetness that then gives way to rich earthy notes. Dark fruit (plums and blackberries) compote with quite a tangy edge to it as well, almost soured cherries.
Finish: The oak grips and dries slowly.
Comment: A lovely gentle example of Islay, once the alcohol is tamed.
Taster   Neil Ridley
Nose: Powerful and peaty, with some lighter floral notes nestling under the peatsmoke, menthol lozenges, sweet wine notes, digestive biscuits andbutterscotch.
Palate: Slightly youthful on the first sip, with a bitter caramel note emerging , a slabof peat smoke and underneath, some cloudy apple juice and oak. Needswater to develop it.
Finish: Drying, a little bitter and very smoky.
Comment: With water, this shows signs of popping its head over to the other side, but only fleetingly.
