Tasting notes
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Fresh. Black olive, hot gorse/coconut then a tickle of smoke and some lemon notes. Green oak, tangerine and a gently oily quality.
Palate: Silky soft feel. Coconut cream/milky coffee. Brine, oily but zesty with sooty smoke. Hits top gear half-way through. Subtle.
Finish: Lightly sooty.
Comment: Your starter for 10. A classic.
8.5
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Fragrant. Balsamic, herbal. Touch of eucalyptus. Dry hay, meadow flowers. Creamy. Developing on buttery notes. Hint of marshmallows.
Palate: Chewy. Less sweet than expected from the nose. Sour apples with the astringency of the skin.
Finish: Spicy, slightly tangy. Drying on oaky notes.
Comment: The nose is lighter and more subtle than the palate. A dash of water tones down the flavours. Disappointing.
