Tasting notes
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Seriously different. Icing sugar, Danish pastries, a little acetone, apricot jam and sourdough bread. Seems to have malt notes in there too – loaf with butter.
Palate: Marzipan with cherries, chocolate fondant and then almost a black banana note. Something very viscous and winey about it too, fresh leather, but also wood shows its hand. Burnt corn.
Finish: Like a warm English bitter, malt and hops.
Comment: A curveball of a whisky but worthy of attention, lots of layers to it.

Taster   Laura Foster
Nose: What an aroma – as expressive as aromatic white wine – a classic Gewurtztraminer. Big, flowers, spice and a soupcon of soil. Cut oak and dried apricots.
Palate: A light oily film sits atop a puddle. All that Gewurtz character comes through – the white flowers, the spice – before a funky green note. Someone added a handful of sticky hops.
Finish: Hops, flowers and sawdust linger.
Comment: Incredibly unusual single malt. Interesting, but not something I could drink in vast quantities. ‘Curiouser and curiouser,’ cried Alice.
