Tasting notes

Taster Rob Allanson

Nose: My word this packs a punch. Huge rye notes, warmed cornbread, spice laden butter. Then black cherries and a touch of lemon acidity.
Palate: That alcohol punches the palate hard. the oak is most dominant, but lurking behind are lovely trail mix notes (dried apple, pear and apricot) and a lush clotted cream edge.
Finish: Massive oak spices dry out and grip, then fade fast.
Comment: Heavens to Betsy, this is the junior version? It’s Tom Waits with a shotgun, what a corker, great fun.

Taster Neil Ridley

Nose: Moist earth, moss, wet leaves and a hint of spicy rye. This is about as direct as they come. There’s also a touch of sour dough too.
Palate: The ABV greets the palate with ferocity. Astringent, leaving a dry residue, with some oakiness, a hint of tobacco, powdery dry apple and cream. Water softens, but doesn’t diminish the oakiness.
Finish: The dryness continues, with the oakiness making its mark with intensity.
Comment: Some bold flavours in here. An unnecessarily high ABV?Perhaps. I expected this to deliver more.
