Tasting notes
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Deep. Fruity with a definite note of new oak. Sappy. Plums cooked in a vanilla syrup. Hint of new leather. Slowly opening on pastry notes. Vanilla custard. Getting creamier on time. With water, a citrus note.
Palate: Sweet and velvety. Oak has taken the lead. Some dried fruit. Sultanas. Stewed peaches. Lots of spices.
Finish: Dry, gingery.
Comment: Same distillery, same strength but a totally different profile. The French oak has relooked it. A bit too much for me.
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Overt oakiness - wood freshly treated with Danish oil. Then comes red fruits, rhubarb, almond and a light herbal note before paprika and a green vegetal note.
Palate: Intense and slightly nutty. Firm wood giving it a slight bittersweet edge. Just a little hint of treacle and then lots of spices like sumac.
Finish: That refreshing tartness continues as the red fruits return.
Comment: Just slightly too much wood for me.
