Tasting notes
Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Dry, dusty, herbal and lightly tarry peat. Full and rich with a subtle boiled sweet sherry note; an almost Pedro Ximinez-like dried grape and prune note. Well balanced by crisp citrus.
Palate: Soft and earthy with a touch of herbal peat and soot. Sherried dried fruit sits in the background. Quite robust and full with a light salinity and hints of orange and burnt wood.
Finish: Very long with camphor and light eucalyptus notes mingling with the dry peat and tannins.
Comment: Seriously impressive. The combination of oils and soot stick to the palate.

Taster   Neil Ridley
Nose: A creamy smoke, back-dropped by a touch of white pepper, some ashy embers and a golden toffee note.
Palate: Very malty, with a very characterful smoke, some distinct pepper and an underlying sweet treacle note. Pretty awesome stuff.
Finish: The smoke isn’t as dominant as it is upfront, but it’s still there, alongside that wonderful malt.
Comment: Some people say that Scotch has lost its edge, especially compared to bigger, more bombastic world whiskies. They need to try this.
