Tasting notes

Taster Phoebe Calver

Nose: Dark fruit cake notes, with candied peel, cherries, plump raisins and a delicate layer of marzipan, followed by fresh, bright orchard fruit.
Palate: More of the cherries and dried fruit, this time like a Florentine biscuit with a layer of dark chocolate. Cinnamon and ginger spice and old leathery notes.
Finish: Lovely and lingering with the chocolate notes and leathery tang sticking with you.
Comment: This is right up my street. I think it would make a characterful and utterly delicious Old Fashioned.

Taster Christopher Coates

Nose: Peat smoke, treacle, muscovado, and black pepper. Tinned pineapple. Bananas with custard, chopped sweet peppers, pickled veg, and double cream.
Palate: Sweet vanilla custard, barbeque-roasted bananas, smoked pears, sultanas, coconut cream and delicate candied ginger. Marshmallow fluff spread on chocolate digestives.
Finish: Long, on gentle woodsmoke and marshmallow.
Comment: Wondrously moreish, this could become a regular after-work sipper.
