Tasting notes

Taster Phoebe Calver

Nose: It’s like a fruit salad with mandarins, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, all just washed, then vanilla yoghurt and flakes of almond.
Palate: Things get a bit richer on the palate, bringing plum, dates, raisins and syrup. A hint of old book. Chopped walnuts enter the mix and a chilli warmth emerges.
Finish: Remains quite nutty on the finish, with a white pepper heat lingering throughout.
Comment: It’s got a whole lot of character and plenty to sink your teeth into... if that is possible with a liquid.

Taster Christopher Coates

Nose: Sweet mash, pine needles, resin, black cherry jam, cola cube, and red grape juice. Puff pastry twists with brown sugar.
Palate: Medium. Black treacle, prunes in syrup, date, and dark drinking chocolate. Then comes honeycomb and stewed blackberries, with cinnamon and demerara. In time, subtle peanut.
Finish: Long, on chocolate and nuts.
Comment: Tasty stuff. It will appeal to fans of fortified wine cask-matured drams.
