Tasting notes
Taster   Phoebe Calver
Nose: Classically fresh and light, like a grain store on a cool morning. Wholewheat flour, elderflower cordial, white grape sorbet, and boiled sweets in icing sugar.
Palate: Smooth and calm. Madeira cake, lemon drizzle icing, crystalised ginger and sage that dries out the palate.
Finish: Really sweet butterfly cake icing, but that sage calms the medium finish.
Comment: Although it’s pretty hot, this combination of sweet and calming grain notes has a lot of potential to grow on you.
7.9
Taster   Christopher Coates
Nose: White grape juice, gooseberry jam and modelling glue. All Bran and icing sugar. A little pear drop.
Palate: Medium bodied. Crème brûlée, pie crust and pistachio butter. Brown bread, subtle cocoa and a touch of violet. A little hot, but manageable.
Finish: Medium length. The nuttiness fades to leave a delicate breadiness.
Comment: A nice single grain that’s just a step away from being refined on account of that runaway heat. A little water helps relax this, but only a drop. A splash washes it away.
