Tasting notes
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: This is Aldeburgh beach after a storm, sea washed pebbles, seaweed, saltspray, tarred groynes. Also hot smoked fish and smoke houses.
Palate: Salted caramel but there is a citrus zip to it. Gravalax, smoked herrings, butthere is a sweetness too.
Finish: Short and peated.
Comment: A great example of well balanced peat and sweetness. Worth trying outdoors in the rain.
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Phenolic. Creosote, iodine, tar, farm yard. The full range of peated aromas. Not so smoky at first though. Bog myrtle. And a mineral note.
Palate: Sweet with a salty feel. Oyster, smoked fish, then citrussy flavours. Lemonsorbet. Sweet all the way. Barley sugar. With water, more citrus.
Finish: Dry, smoky, mineral.
Comment: A perfect islander. More phenolic than smoky and so well balanced. The ocean in your glass. Bring the oysters!
