Tasting notes

Taster Joel Harrison

Nose: A lovely balance of vanilla, pear drops, smoke and hints of vintage leather on the nose.
Palate: A well-balanced palate giving more sweetness, big leather tones from the nose, culminating in a lovely sweet peat tone with a full and rounded flavour.
Finish: A hint of copper and peat smoke on the finish.
Comment: A lovely example of an island whisky from Scotland.

Taster Chris Goodrum

Nose: Cardboard to begin with but some solid, sweet barley to give a semblance of balance. Fishy with earthy peat, sugar coated violets, bacon fat, meat and salt.
Palate: Initially sugary followed by cardboardy peat and hard barley. Briny on the middle which clears the sugars from the palate to leave oily, fishy notes.
Finish: Long and sweetly peated with lingering cardboardy notes. Sweet violet, peat after-taste.
Comment: The distillery character here is unmistakable! However there are just enough other elements to balance.
