Tasting notes
Taster   Joel Harrison
Nose: Blackcurrant cough sweets, malt, new car and petrichor. This gives a welcoming impression for a whisky at high strength, and only becomes better with water.
Palate: Sweet mint tea which moves into more meaty tones and spice as it sits on the palate. Another very tasty dram which will appeal to those who love oak ageing.
Finish: Off-dry which moves into spicy overtones and finally cherry drops.
Comment: Caught at just the right time. Any more age on this and it would simply be too dry.

Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Full, fragrant and tropical – honeydew melon, peach, pear and apricot with runny honey and sawdusty oak. With time, balancing lime appears along with some butter oak notes.
Palate: Full, barley with hints of straw to begin with. Less tropical but showing a lovely density of apricot, lime and orange fruit. Mature with subtle coffeed oak.
Finish: Long, fleshy, minerally and citric with the alcohol drying a little, but the oak lingers.
Comment: A lovely Spey. I’d like to have seen a little more honey sweetness on the finish to balance the drier notes, but that’s picky.
