Tasting notes
Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: A little shy at first but some honey coated, estery apricot, melon and apple appears. Gently, crumbly spice notes develop with hints of toffee, herbs and a crisper, grain-like edge.
Palate: The soft toffeed oak appears first and puts a bit of a damper on the palate. Still it’s quite full bodied and relatively deep with light herbal notes coming through.
Finish: Medium length with the alcohol a little too prominent and it finishes with that almost grain-like note.
Comment: The balance shifts in favour of the oak on this one and thus the complexity of nose is missing on the palate.
7.8
Taster   Alwynne Gwilt
Nose: At first, waxy with notes of red fruit. Quite attractive. Summer berries and honey, then brown sugar, strawberry foams and vanilla marshmallows.
Palate: Warming and pleasant. Plum cake, oak spice, quite sweet but enough baking spice in there to balance out. Drier on the palate than expected given the fruity nose.
Finish: Drying and nutty.
Comment: An attractive nose, perfect for summer sipping, though hides more of a punch than expected.
