Tasting notes

Taster Christopher Coates

Nose: Banana, aniseed, spearmint and pear drop. Lemon curd on pancakes. Vanilla essence, kiwi and green apple.
Palate: Vanilla sponge with intense red applesauce and Juicy Fruit. Creamy custard, coconut, strawberry jam, meringue and banana bread with butter. Dried apricots and a touch of nutmeg.
Finish: Long, on custard and applesauce.
Comment: Like liquid jam and coconut sponge with custard.

Taster Phoebe Calver

Nose: A combination of Victoria sponge cake, full of red berries, and rolled oat porridge with cinnamon spice and single cream.
Palate: The Victoria sponge filling is leaning more towards red berry compote, with some cinnamon-soaked apple slices in syrup and toasted oak.
Finish: Cinnamon spice notes, with toasted brioche and red berries lingering.
Comment: I’m going to have to make an Old Fashioned with this – I think the rich red fruit and warming sweet spice would make it a hit!
