Tasting notes
Taster   Michael Jackson
Nose: Surprisingly powerful. Lovely clean, appetising aromas. Freshly peeled oranges. Dried apricots.
Palate: Thick-cut marmalade on well-buttered toast. Licorice. Lots of flavour development in the glass.
Finish: A hint of burnt toast. A whiff of smoke, from the direction of Orkney.
Comment: Like the regular Grouse, it tastes maltier and bigger than it really is. An excellent justification of cask strength.
8.5
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Generous with soft grain, vanilla, fruit, orange, treacle scones and smoke. Alcoholic.
Palate: Good weight but there’s a hard note running all the way through. Smooth, sweet and fruity to start, then tightens.
Finish: Punchy.
Comment: The strength gives it greater weight than the standard bottling and a bottle will last three times as long!
7.5
