Tasting notes
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Shades of dark treacle toffee and Riga Black Balsam, a little menthol and coal tar soap. Then Latakia tobacco and aging cigars in a humidor. Picked walnut skins. There is a gentle rubberness, like new bike tyres.
Palate: Rye bread pep with really dark, rich honey. Baked apples and cinnamon spice. More dark juicy fruits abound with damsons and blackberries.
Finish: Jammy, with dark honey sweetness.
Comment: An interesting mixed bag of a whisky, with lovely integration of flavours.

Taster   Sam Coyne
Nose: A thick treacle pudding, followed by the embers from a fire. The faintest danger of first-aid kits. A winter-warmer of a nose.
Palate: Oak up front that just prickles the tongue. Bursting with ripe fruits; namely red berries, before raisins. Pepper hangs around in the wings, before there's a nut pastry hint.
Finish: Long, continuing with that red fruit. Leaves in a cloud of smoke and a smattering of almonds as a calling-card.
Comment: Sweet and well-finished with a few interesting twists and turns.
