Tasting notes
Taster   Becky Paskin
Nose: Dark and sticky: molasses, warm toffee pudding and sugared almonds. There’s a majesty to it, old leather armchairs and polished wooden shelves.
Palate: Hugely sherried and sweet, thick and chewy, brimming with marzipan and toasted hazelnuts, densely fruited cake, brown sugar. There’s enough spice and oak to keep the sweetness in check.
Finish: Milk chocolate, liquorice and cigar wrappers as well.
Comment: For moments when you want to sink back into the couch and relax.
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: A good punch of alcohol, then it opens into an apple orchard – a mix of warming fruit and fresh wood. Lemon oil. Oatcakes, strawberry jam and clotted cream.
Palate: The spices really start to build, and slowly sherry tinges emerge. Stewed prunes and brandy snap pieces. Fresh squeezed cherry juice, a little tart edge.
Finish: Long and really warming. Hits of rye spices tempered with that cherry sweetness.
Comment: Shows signs of being well looked after and is nicely balanced too. Warming and interesting.
