Tasting notes
Taster   Joel Harrison
Nose: You don’t need to be an expert to know that this is very good, old whisky. Exceptionally well aged this gives tropical fruit, upside down cake sandlewood, rose petals, delicate, fresh vanilla.
Palate: Initially, not much (vanilla, oaty spice) but hold this in the mouth and after seven seconds it explodes: barbecued bananas, passion fruit, mango, a whiff of coal dust and antique furniture polish. Very well balanced and complex.
Finish: All of the above notes of tropical fruit, but dusted with cinnamon.
Comment: Exceptional whisky making and a brilliant example of what time and oak can do.

Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: A mature nose of earthy, lightly perfumed barley, hints of marzipan and toasted toffee. Some lightly oxidised fruit and creamy vanilla emerge along with a touch of cedar and herbs.
Palate: Initially it’s tart and citric but the sugar coated, mature barley and straw notes balance. Subtle and elegant with a touch of lightly oiled marzipan, grass and tongue tingling spice.
Finish: Good mineral finish with lingering vanilla and barley along with late notes of mocha and dark toffee.
Comment: Its maturity is obvious from the onset, the citrus notes give it a lovely vibrancy.
