Tasting notes
Taster   Becky Paskin
Nose: Summer fruits with an oily, seed-like grip, like blackcurrant jam smothered on warm rye bread with cracked black pepper. Some milk chocolate and raisins.
Palate: Dry yet oily, while that intense berry fruitiness dominates proceedings. Sunflower oil, dusty maltbins, black pepper and a glass of neat Ribena. There’s a delicate spiciness and hint of menthol.
Finish: Spicy, dry and a touch mentholic – that rye bread takes the parting shot.
Comment: An English single malt with a fruity rye character. Fascinating stuff.
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Apple orchards in full bloom, hot crumpets with gooseberry jam. Apple pie with blackberry topping. A savoury edge – a sweet fatty meaty note, like lamb and mint jelly.
Palate: That mix of savoury and sweet keeps going, pancakes and bacon without the smoke. Fruit toast and milk chocolate spread. Toffee apples and hints of citrus zest.
Finish: Takes its time to dry with all that savoury sweetness coating.
Comment: A really interesting drop and there’s clearly something stirring in England at the moment.
